Shield Impact RnD

The shield mesh was modeled in Houdini from separated hex tiles. Each vertex stores its tile’s centroid in custom UV coordinates. This centroid is used to sample noise textures and impact/displacement masks which can then be used to displace the tile as a whole during impacts.
